Vulcan Mods

Nerf guns are an iconic childhood toy, but they're beloved by adults just as much as children. They have also come a long way from the single-shot pump and fire models of the early lines. The Nerf Vulcan is heavy electronic proof of innovation.

The Vulcan is a top-tier beast of a Nerf gun. Designed after impressive chain-fed machine guns, it lives the dream. It sits on a tripod for stability or can be carried without it for run and gun action. It's powered by a series of D-cell batteries capable of firing 180 darts a minute. With an ammo chain containing 25 darts, it runs out of ammo in seconds.

As impressive as the Vulcan is to children, it's even more impressive with a few modifications. Some of them are relatively simple, while others can be complex projects. Whatever the mod, it's sure to make the gun just that much more impressive.

The easiest modification to make to a Vulcan, or any other Nerf blaster for that matter, is a cosmetic case mod. For tactical combat, that bright yellow and orange color scheme just won't do. Craft paint, decals, or any other decorating supply can customize the gun just the way you like it. Anything is possible, from flame patterns to black and silver to camo.

Does the 25 dart ammo limit have you down? Do you find yourself spending more time picking up darts than firing them? An ammunition mod may be just the solution. It's relatively easy to attach two or more belts together for an extended firing session. If it becomes too hard to drag those chains around, Nerf sells optional ammo box accessories. Two of them modded together can hold a 50 dart belt and allow for easy ammo feeding.

The most detailed and powerful mod for a Vulcan is just that -- a power mod. Increasing the voltage of the batteries increases the power of the motor, and directly increases the blaster's rate of fire. It can be as simple as wiring up a small RC car battery pack, or as intense as wiring up several. Just be warned that such a voltage increase can burn out or melt other components of the blaster not designed to handle the load. Of course, if you're that far in modding the gun, nothing says you can't replace those parts as well.
