Vigilon Mods
The Nerf Vigilon is a pistol style blaster from the Vortex series that fires XLR disks rather than the standard Nerf darts. The disk blaster has excellent range, reaching up to eighty feet without modification and is very reliable; the disks will almost never jam unless the user tries to load more than the standard five into the blaster.
With the intricate disk firing mechanism that the Vortex series blasters use, modding becomes a more difficult task, and modification of the Vigilon is probably better left for experienced Nerf modders. The internal workings of the Nerf disk blasters is completely different from other Nerf guns, and has a much more complicated mechanism. The internal torsion spring is almost completely inaccessible, and cannot be replaced, and most of the internal workings of the firing mechanism are inside a closed housing. Really, the only modifications that can be made to the Vigilon relate to the multiple safeties that are in place to prevent dry firing of the blaster.
Disassembling the blaster is relatively easy, particularly for anyone with experience with modding other Nerf blasters. Philips head screws hold together several layers that include the main body of the blaster and the cocking slide. There are safeties in place that prevent the pistol from being fired or primed without a disk loaded, and some users may prefer to remove these if they are confident that they will not unintentionally jam the blaster. Beyond that, the internal workings of the Vigilon are very complex, and would require a high degree of expertise in modifying.
Of course, even though the Vigilon doesn't lend itself to easy mechanical modification, its highly distinctive appearance means that custom paint schemes only look better on the stylish pistol.
Without a doubt, one of Nerf's more distinctive, and better performing blasters, time will tell what sort of mods will be engineered for the Vigilon.
