Swarmfire Mods
Nerf Dart tag is a new competitive sport resembling paintball. Nerf has several models available for compete in this sport, but the Nerf Swarmfire is its most aggressive model available. The Swarmfire is an electronic dart firing blaster that hold up to 20 nerf darts in its barrel and fires up to 3 darts per second. With a few minor modifications to the design, the Swarmfire's fire power and range can be increased to allow you to get the leg up on your competition. The modifications increase air supply for dart propulsion and increase the strength of the spring used to launch the dart.
To make modifications, first, remove the stock. Carefully remove all screws, taking note of their location for replacement and remove the exterior casing and carefully remove the battery housing. The main casing can be opened with the use of a flat tool to pry it apart. This should expose the electronic works of the motor and switches. Take care not to disturb the electronics. The focus of the modifications are the plunger assembly and the rotating barrel that seats the darts for firing. Each of these parts are fitted with air restricters and with slight modifications, air supply behind your darts can be significantly enhanced.
With the casing off and the guts exposed, you will see the white plunger assembly, which houses the spring that gives the dart its projection power. Remove the screws from the p;lunger housing and gently separate the two sides. The existing spring can be replaced with a heavier guage spring or a heavier guage spring with a smaller diameter can be slipped inside the existing spring. The air restricters on the end can also be removed before reassembling the plunger tube and returning it to its place. There is also an air pressure relieving hole on the side of the plunger which can be plugged with an epoxy to prevent air from escaping.
The modification of the rotating barrel consists of drilling away the air restrictors from the back side of the barrel and opening up the channels to allow larger more turbulent volumes of air through the channels to propel the darts. Once these air restrictors are drilled out, reassemble the rifle and head out to battle the competition. Please note that modifications void the manufacturer warranty and may shorten the life of the gun.
