Secret Strike AS-1 Mods

At just a few bucks, the Nerf Secret Strike AS-1 is an amazing little gun. A one-hitter that hides in your pocket or up your sleeve, the AS-1 is just the thing for stealthy maneuvers. The most easily concealed Nerf gun, it's perfect for sneaking up behind your target or keeping in your pocket while you look innocent and move in close for a surprise attack. Consider it a must-have for your team's resident ninja and an awesome backup to sneak out from your sleeve while pretending to raise your hands in surrender.

Being such a simple and cheap little gun, it's also one of the best guns for beginners to mod. Without a lot of complex moving parts, anyone can easily make a few tweaks, and at 2.99 suggested retail value, even if you do break it, you'd have spent more spilling your morning coffee than you would have breaking an AS-1.

You need to pump this thing about six or seven times at full force to get a good thirty foot shot out of it, but by simply removing the air restriction unit, you can sometimes double that. You need to get the barrel open and remove the little plug that air moves around. By popping it out with a Dremel tool, you can get faster, farther and sharper shots out of this little gun.

Another great mod for this gun is a full barrel replacement. You can use a half inch pipe or even an old marker tube. The barrel as is is a little cheap and can crack and let air through. A full barrel replacement results in a tighter seal for a longer shot.

Finally, not really a mod but a tip: Try submerging the gun in water before firing. We'd never recommend that for your Titan or your Maverick, but the relative lack of complex parts and the nature of this gun's barrel allow you to get a much tighter seal and a much longer range if you soak the thing in water before firing a shot. Obviously, that's not always an option, but any time you find yourself by the pool or garden hose with an AS-1 in hand, give it a try and see how well it works for yourself.
