Rapid Fire 20 Mods

Battling it out with Nerf guns is a great way to relieve stress, and modifying, or modding as it’s known, is a method to get an edge up on the competition in any Nerf war. With time, tools, and patience, your Nerf gun can become an instrument of domination.

For instance, the Nerf Rapid Fire 20 is the sub-machine gun of Nerf weapons. This is a compressed air powered, 20 shot, gun that can be used in single-shot or full auto mode. The compressed air chamber is filled by pumping a piston at the front of the gun at the bottom of the grip. Ammo is loaded by placing a dart into each of the barrels on the front. It’s a fairly straightforward and simple to use weapon.

Modifying this weapon can be complicated and will require some tools and a tiny bit of skill in using them, so if you aren’t sure of yourself in this aspect, you might want to find a friend who is.

This simplest mod is to remove the barrel assembly and take it apart to remove the air restrictors from each barrel. This alone will not only increase range, but will allow you to use Stefan-type ammo, which is a harder type of foam.

There is another type of mod that’s pretty common and rather simple to accomplish, but requires you to have a second barrel assembly. The simple part is that this mod only requires cutting the parts of the outer gun shell that holds the assembly in place. The hard part is that the cuts must be smooth so that removing and replacing the assembly is quick and doesn’t catch. Upon completing this mod, you have the option to carry extra preloaded assemblies that would work like speed loaders to increase your rate of fire.

The last mod I’m going to mention, and there are many more out there, is the replacement of the manual piston with a portable micro air compressor. This mod is rather difficult and isn't recommended for beginners. Basically, the mod involves removing the existing pump assembly and attaching the feed from the compressor directly to the air chamber of the gun. This way, you don’t have to stop to pump the gun back up while running and gunning.
Mods are definitely the way to get more from your Nerf gun.
