Furyfire Mods
The Nerf Firefly is a medium sized, eight shot blaster from the N-Strike series that features a revolving barrel and glow in the dark darts. A single shot blaster, the revolving barrels sit just below a built in strobe light that flash charges the glow in the dark ammunition. Overall the blaster has good range, accuracy, and is one of the more comfortable Nerf blasters to use.
A few simple modifications can turn this good blaster into a great one, and with the only tools required being a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and a drill bit or grinding tool, anyone can mod their their blaster.
While the prospect of altering a blaster with an electronic component may seem harrowing to the novice modder, all the performance modifications can be made to the Firefly without even opening the battery housing. Dis-assembly of the Firefly is a fairly straightforward process, and should pose no problems, even for a first time modder.
As with any Nerf gun, the most important performance modification to make to the Firefly is the removal of the air restrictors that limit the blaster's range and power. With the Firefly's unique rotating barrel system, this means that there are actually eight separate barrels that need to be hollowed out. However, once the barrel assembly has been removed, this process is much easier than on other Nerf blasters, as the restrictors can simply be dumped out of the assembly, and the whole piece sits flat for easy drilling or grinding.
The plunger system is also unique among the N-Series, in that it is not the usual reverse plunger system typical to most of the blasters in the line. Pulling it apart is very simple, however, and the ambitious modder can even replace the standard spring with something that has a bit more kick to it.
Now the the blaster is taken apart, it's any visual modifications the user might want to apply. A custom paint scheme can really set a modded blaster apart from the herd, and with the Firefly's built in strobe, this blaster can have a truly out of this world look.
Reassembling the Firefly is just as easy as taking it apart, and the pieces fit back into the housing of the blaster very well. Provided none of the screws have been misplaced, the blaster will look good as new, and fire twice as far!
