Barricade Mods
The Nerf Barricade is a pistol Nerf gun that shoots foam darts using flywheel mechanisms. It shoots 10 foam bullets in a semi-automatic fashion. This Nerf gun runs off of three, AA sized batteries and starts with a basic On-Off switch. Every time the trigger is pulled, it pushes the dart between two flywheels, shooting it out of the gun. The Barricade’s shoulder and rail fit other N-Strike guns. This gun comes with 10 foam darts that shoot up to 30 feet.
Mods Available
There are several mods that can be done to the Nerf Barricade Blaster. They include flywheel adjustment, increasing voltage, trigger powering and compatibility with Stefans.
Increasing the voltage enables the darts to travel faster and further. To make this mod, the voltage needs to be increased. Increase voltage by replacing two of the AA batteries with rechargeable batteries that carry a higher voltage, for example 3.7V to 4.2V batteries. This adds 7.4 to 8.4 additional volts. Leave a regular AA battery in the third compartment as a dummy. The increased voltage makes the flywheels rotate faster.
A trigger activated gun preserves battery life because the flywheels stop when the trigger is released. A pressure switch, located under the On-Off switch can be modulated for trigger use. Take off the inside cover, locate the pressure switch and disconnect the circuit. Check under the trigger and cut an area the size of the switch. Make sure the trigger moves over the switch. Using the cut out piece of plastic, make a shelf that holds the switch and glue it together. Reconnect the circuit to the pressure switch, using extra wire. Wrap the wires with electrical tape.
Flywheel width adjustment allows the use pof other sized foam darts. Modders can layer tape over the flywheels to make them larger for narrow darts.
Stefans are shorter darts that can be used with modification. Put foam spacers in back of the Stefans so the dart rodpushes the spacer and the Stefans into the spinning flywheels.
Mod Difficulty
The voltage increase is an easy mod because all that is involved is batteries. The flywheel width adjustment is also simple for beginner modders because it only takes tape. The Stefan dart compatability is also an easy mod, requiring only spacers behind the darts.
The trigger activated on-off mechanism is for advanced modders with soldering and wiring experience.
